The Financial Fitness Extravaganza is a great way to get all the free resources & training you need to teach a high school personal finance course!

For the past 10 years, the KCEE’s blockbuster Financial Fitness Institutes have received hundreds of thumbs-up from teachers across the state. This Financial Fitness Extravaganza is a combination of all three institutes and more so teachers can come and receive the newly updated resources along with financial topic updates from professionals in the field.  The conference style event will also provide time for sharing with others throughout the state teaching personal finance.

Resources to be provided with training:  Revised Learning Earning & Investing for a New Generation, Revised Financial Fitness for Life, Financing Your Future DVD, KS/MO Economics Based Personal Finance Course Outline, Virtual Economics 4.0 (CD with over 2000 economics/finance lessons) and more.  These resources will give you more than enough to teach a full semester personal finance course.  The KS/MO Personal Finance Course Outline will help you get your semester designed with less work.  Teachers will also receive training on how to use our free personal finance program GenIRevolution, EconEdLink,

Sample of topic presentations:  New National Standards on Financial Literacy, bankruptcy attorney, insurance, credit reports, budgeting, consumer protection, credit reporting agency, taxes for teens, investing, retirement planning, estate planning, using the Stock Market Game, LifeSmarts, and many more.

Are you teaching a full semester personal finance course or strongly integrating personal finance into another class?  If yes, this workshop is for you.   Reserve your seat now! 

Cost/Housing: All costs associated with the conference - including meals during the event,  curriculum materials are provided FREE of chargeParticipants may chose to stay in Fairmount Towers, an air-conditioned residence hall complex located on the corner of 21st Street and Hillside at very reasonable rates.  Teachers coming from over 1 hour away who teach a full semester personal finance course may stay at the dorm at NO COST for both nights thanks to our grant.  All others will pay dorm rates are $29/single room or $22/double room per person.  Reservations are included in the application form. 

Rooms are set up for double occupancy and are designed suite-style with two rooms sharing a bathroom. Each room is carpeted and furnished with two single beds, a sink/vanity, a closet and drawer space in the two desks and dressers. Bedding is provided.  Daily maid service is not included in the rates, but public areas will be routinely cleaned. 

Graduate Credit Option:  In addition to receiving this fantastic training, you have the option of choosing to earn professional development points or one graduate credit hour with a partial to full scholarship through WSU or ESU. 

Tuition Assistance:   Teachers scholarship will be provided to teachers who select to receive graduate credit.  To receive this tuition assistance teachers must be CERTIFIED KANSAS TEACHERS currently under contract with a Kansas public or private school and teaching personal finance.  Full semester personal finance teachers will qualify for a full tuition scholarship.  Other teachers strongly integrating personal finance who would like graduate credit will receive a $100 scholarship.  Graduate credit will be offered only through WSU or ESU.
