The KCEE is pleased to invite nominations for outstanding Kansas teachers who allocate creativity and commitment to the instruction of economic concepts in their classrooms. 

The
2007 Economic Educator of the Year Awards will recognize three Kansas teachers who have implemented innovative programs (or increased the value of an existing program in creative and innovative ways) which increase economic understanding in their students.   One teacher from each of the following grade levels will be honored: K-5, 6-8, and 9-12.

Prizes & Recognition

  • Winners will receive a $500 personal cash award.
  • Pre-paid registration for the National Council on Economic Education’s annual conference in October 2007.
  • Winning teachers and their entries will be featured in this newsletter and on the KCEE Website.

Stock Market Game team fees reduced by 30% Thanks to a grant from the KS Securities Commissioner, we are pleased to announce that team fees for the Spring 2007 Stock Market Game will be reduced from $15 per team to $10 per team.  Thank you Commissioner Chris Biggs!

The KS LifeSmarts Competition is now underway
High School competitors can take their final online competition quizzes anytime between now and Jan 12 for HS and Feb 23 for MS. This year's statewide HS champs will receive up to $2500 for expenses to attend Nationals in Lake Buena Vista (Downtown Disney), FL April 21-24, 2007.

Econ Poster Contest is a fun way to assess your K-8th grade students' understanding of basic economics and personal finance principles!  This year's 6 topics have been modified to better reflect the Kansas standards in Economics and Personal Finance.  18 classrooms will win a $50 cash reward!  More Info

Financial Foundations for Kids (FF4Kids) is now being deployed via the Empowered Desktop by Kan-ed.  Check your Kan-ed Empowered desktop for the piggy bank icon that takes you to FF4Kids.  If your icon is not activated, that means you need to send at least one teacher to one of our scheduled workshops or call the KCEE to set up an in-service so your school can have access to FF4Kids.
