This resource manual uses 45 commonly read childrens fiction and nonfiction books
in grades 1-3 and 4-6 as the basis for teaching basic economic concepts of scarcity,
opportunity cost, resources, cost and benefits, entrepreneurship, productivity,
competition, barter, and many more. Many of these books have received the Newbery Medal
and have also been identified as favorites among children and teachers.
