The Kansas Council on Economic Education is pleased to invite outstanding Kansas teachers who allocate creativity and commitment to the instruction of economic concepts in their classrooms to submit their entry to become one of our 2008 Economic Educator of the Year.

 

The 2008 Economic Educator of the Year Awards will recognize three Kansas teachers who have implemented innovative programs (or increased the value of an existing program in creative and innovative ways) which increase economic understanding in their students.   One teacher from each of the following grade levels will be honored: K-5, 6-8, and 9-12.

 

Prizes & Recognition

  • Winners will receive a $500 personal cash award.
  • Pre-paid registration for the National Council on Economic Education’s annual conference in October 2007.
  • Winning teachers and their entries will be featured in the KCEE's EconEdcetera newsletter and on the KCEE Website.

 

Application Process

Teachers may download the entry packet.  Entries must be postmarked no later than March 20, 2008.

Entry Submission

The entry packet focuses on the following areas.

 

  • Creative economics lesson/project developed and implemented, or if the project is an existing program, how the teacher added value to that program in innovative or creative ways.
  • Economic concepts and content.
  • Overall goal of project and outcomes desired.
  • Learning activities used.
  • Evidence of student learning.
